DT770 is the definitive "ghettoblaster" if you are looking for a pair of headphones with a lot of bass.

Some people said that the dt770s are muddy and distorts, but people like me (haven't had any 150+ headphones yet) wouldn't notice right??

Judging simply by the reviews, I would assume that the Ultrasone has the most precise bass. I'm satisfied with the HFI-780, although I drool over the PRO series, and I've auditioned the DT770. Hands down, no comparison! Muddy, bloated, awful bass! Stay far away!

I was never interested in the Audio Technica because it's probably too cramped and warm for my taste.

I also found the D2000 to be inferior to the HFI-780, so I would not expect anything exciting of the Denon!

D1100-- sounds almost as good as the D2000 with the right EQ and performs very well with your genres

 

M50-- probably the most versatile 'phones i've ever experienced, but comfort is an issue (for me) and the soundstage is a tad bit smaller than the D1100. performs very well with almost all genres including the ones you've mentioned

 

cannot comment on the other two as i havent listened to them

DT770 is not pure quality when it comes to sound, but it would still sound quite satisfying for most people. Since most people don't really care about the soundquality. They are just happy as long as the bass is punchy.

 

You better listen to a pair of DT770 before buying it.

Go for M50 - Ultrasone 580 would be the best for trance and dance but I am not too hot on the pop.

Wow. Thanks for the reply everyone.

So...

...580 has got precise bass but the DT770s got more bass, and distorts alot compared to the 580??

And D1100 and M50 sounds as good as each other for me but the D1100s are more comfortable??

Damn...choosing between 4 headphones are hard...

You have no idea!

But in the end, probably any headphone will please you. You are still a tabula rasa.
If my first hifi experience wouldn't had been an Ultrasone, I might be recommending Sennheiser now instead. With your first headphone, you will easily learn to love it's strengths and forget about the weaknesses.

I don't know of anybody who hated his first high quality headphone. wink.gif

BTT: DT770 is the smoothest (= muddy) of the four. I found it to be very comfortable, as the Denon.

Yesterday I was comparing the Audio Technica ATH-AD700s and the Denon 1001s and the Beyerdynamic DT 770 80-Ohm, the DT 770 are now my prefered headphones.

Wow (again) thanks for the replies and the links.

Based on the reviews. I think they are the same in performance. I think it's up to what I prefer.

The problems is, I can't try any of them, if I lived in Sydney, Melbourne etc I might be able to. But I live in Adelaide, where there aren't even any Apple Stores (only authorised retailers, when my carrier send my iPhone for repairs, they send it to Sydney)

DAMN I HATE ADELAIDE FOR SHOPPING!!!

...I must sound like the biggest noob on head fi...

I think I'm gonna choose between the Ultrasone 580 and Denon d1100.

There are NO comparisons of them (unless google and head fi search missed some)

Any advice ?

Btw, there are no fakes of any of them 4 on eBay right??
