I just purchased an HM-602 off a fellow head-fier, and started using them with my Senn IE8 IEMs. I am somewhat not satisfied with the sound quality coming out (using flac, battery fully charged), as it seems muddled, crackling at higher pitches, and just in general, the audio sounds jumbled. I don't know if its me or what, but I'm mostly comparing it to my Asus Xonar D2X sound card in my PC, as well as my iPhone 3GS, which both sound significantly better.
The defined higher pitches, added treble, and deeper bass that are in the Xonar D2X I'm finding are not in the HM-602.
I was wondering if someone can suggest an mp3 player or player/amp combo that are more along the lines of the Xonar D2X, I have a feeling its my IE8's that are being picky... but I also tried with my Denon D7000's with the same result, maybe i'm expecting too much? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, thanks! Willing to spend $500-$700.
