Ordering to Canada from: advancedmp3players.co.uk

Hi guys,

I'm thinking whether I should order a cowon i9 from this place: advancedmp3players.co.uk.  Local store stock is running low and they only have the 1 color (black) while this UK shop has the other colors and it has a great price with shipping for some B-Stock (minor scratches or something, probably nothing worse than what I'd do to it in a week).  Only thing is they ship with FedEX, normally when I order from US I avoid anything other than regular post because it's almost guaranteed you'll get charged crazy border fees, or so I've heard.  I'm posting this on the off chance that I'm wrong or ordering from UK is somehow different.  Any opinions?

Contact Advanced MP3 Players and ask them.

Right.. sent them an email today.  I wonder how many Canadians actually order stuff from there

They say I'll probably face customs and that's all they know.. without customs the i9 from UK will cost me about $127CDN and at the store in Canada it's $180+tax= $203.04.  Should I give the UK shop a go anyways?  Can customs and brokerage fees amount to more than I'd pay at the store here?

You'll get hit for at least $25.50 in brokerage fees with FedEx plus all the applicable Canadian taxes (HST is another $14 or so) plus whatever the retail store in the U.K. is charging to ship it. You may also get hit for Duty as well, I sometimes do but not always regardless of where the item was made. Try calling your local FedEx and ask them what they charge for brokerage at the value of the item they're transporting.
