Replacing ATH-M50 cable

Hi, my Audio Technica ATH M50's cable has died. Somewhere along the cable, the right speaker wire is disconnected. Or that's what I believe, because I've ripped open the cable plug and it was fine, and so is the case with the other end of the cable, which goes into the headphones.

 

So I need a new cable to solder to the headphones. Do I need to buy a regular Mini PL to Mini PL cable and expose its wires on one side and solder them to the headphones, or are there cables already with exposed wires, just for this kind of job?
