I got my AKG 271 MKII from Amazon today. I read the box and it said they were made in China. I thought they were made in Germany/Austria? Can someone help?

Thanks

It says "Designed and engineered in Austria by AKG Acoustics, Made in China." AFAIK nearly everything is manufactured in China now.

I'm curious too. I got some off Amazon that were made in China... HeadRoom says they are made in Austria.

To the guys who are worried with their Akg's, check this.

The 271 is the closed version of the K240 Studio/Mk II.  Those are made in China, not Austria now.  Unfortunately.

I just called head room. They are made in China. However they still sound great. Listen to Welcome to the Machine by Pink Floyd on the AKG 271s. Sounds amazing

Despite the amazing sound for the price the build quality is the exact opposite. One day after I had these cans the right ear pad that covers the driver started coming unglued. I filed a return with Amazon and I will be sending them back. If I knew from the get go they were made in China I would have never bought them. Anyone know of a good set of starter audiophile headphones not made in China, Taiwan,Republic of China, Hong Kong, or any Chinese company? Thanks...!

AKGs used to be made in Austria, but they recently shifted to China to cut production costs. I got mine a while ago, so they were made in Austria. Perhaps you can get an old pair off of eBay, or try to find one of the older models?

I think recent AKGs are indeed made in China. I had a pair AKG K702 that were made in Austria but they were bought quite a while ago.
