I would recommend you look into Denon D2000's

Also, to reiterate others, most of the headphones you are considering are going to require an amp.

And the sound is as good as the open ones? Which type of signature have the Denons?

They are cheaper than the open ones.

How good they sound is mostly subjective.

Based on your intial picks I would go with the grado. I've heard all but the DT880 (own the 990 though). They won't need an amp and do excel with the genres you mentioned.

If you want balanced then I'll go with the HD600. Amazing mids, smooth highs, and quality bass though it is a little lean, but shouldn't be as lean as the K701. Also the DT880/600ohm could definitely be considered as I've read they are great neutral cans as well. Remember both of these cans should be powered fairly well to bring out their potential. If you want a more colored sound, but definitely fits your tastes of music, then the Grado would be great as well, and they don't require a powerful amp. I also wouldn't get an expensive Grado can, even the 325i. I would just aim for the ones below from the 60i-225i and then mod them to your hearts content using the "sr60 mod" thread here (just search it). You can make them look beautiful and sound even more amazing. smily_headphones1.gif

Would seriously consider getting none of these cans for the office if there is anyone sitting within 30ft of you. My mrs can here my Grado's in my office when she is in the living room. If you DO insist on getting some open cans then I think the AKG's will do your Jazz some justice but not the rock. Grado will also do jazz justice but will come into their own with your rock and it is not as important to amp as the AKG's without power the AKG's do suffer somewhat. the Sen's and Beyers will be nice also but as a Grado fan I would go for the 225's or a used set of rs2's (check the for sale forum on here). I would also consider closed cans if you are remotely concerned about your colleagues feelings.

OK, I think I want to try a open ones after several IEM's, if they don't feet me for office usage I will go back to IEMS and I will let the open cans for home. One question, I think I am decided to go for Grado, HF series are similar to RS or to SR series?
