Thanks for respond.
I was really worried about those cracks. It was good news that it is not a problem.

Hello everyone!
Just jumped on this cheapo train with lots of luggage!!
HD668B and all three variants of HD681. I'm not really a fan of closed Headphones, although I own an ATH-M50 and a Sony XB700.
All are connected to a Xonar Essence ST. I was trying to understand which gain should I apply to the audio card: the standard goes for impedances until 64ohm, the medium from 64 to 300. Should I consider, for example, the 668B being 56ohm or, as written on it, 2x56=112ohm? i'm quite a newbie when it comes to these details, but could it be that in case of single cabled headphones, I have to multiply the advertised value by two?
By the way, feel free to ask any questions or specific comparisons (with a certain song, what to analyse exactly, etc)
PS: i'm based in EU, got all of them from a very cheap online shop based in Czech republic, PM me for the address ;)

Yeah well, I just thought that with a single cable the two channels would be "in serie" and with dual cable "in parallel", guess I was wrong then.
About the "impedance", I know it's just a rule of thumb, however with a Sennheiser Ovation HD565 and also with the Alessandro MS1 I had to use the medium setting to get reasonable levels of SPL.
Just measured impedance of all my Superlux at the jack:
HD681
Left Channel: 30.8 ohm
Right Channel: 30.8 ohm
HD681B
Left Channel: 32.5 ohm
Right Channel: 32.2 ohm
HD681F
Left Channel: 31.6 ohm
Right Channel: 32.7 ohm
HD668B
Left Channel: 56.8 ohm
Right Channel: 58.2 ohm
And just for completeness:
Audio Technica M50
Left Channel: 34.5 ohm
Right Channel: 36.3 ohm
Going by logic, it is natural that single cabled headphones exhibit different impedance between left and right channel because you have to account the impedance of the connection cables between the two drivers. Guess what, the only two that exhibit volume imbalance are the 681 and 681B.
Example: the HD668B has the left channel directly connected to the jack, and it registers 56.8 ohm. If the right channel measures 58.2 ohm it means that the interconnection has a resistance of 58.2-56.8=1.4ohm. Therefore the two drivers are electrically balanced (and it sounds so)
The 681B sounds clearly shifted to the right driver, therefore it means that the impedance of the right channel is actually lower compared to the left.
HD681 though, sounds SLIGHTLY shifted to the left. I can only assume that the left channel has less resistance than it's supposed to.
My assumption is that single cabled headphones must register different impedance when measured at the jack. Is this correct?
Hey everyone, the US market & Audiohipster will have the HD-681 EVO the first week in march, still trying to find out when we can expect the HD-662 EVO, if distributors only bring over the semi open only, they are missing half the market. Drummers & studio owners etc. need the closed cans, also Audiohipster will be getting the HD-385 ear buds... has anywho tried these?
Thanks for the speaker ohm comparison per ear, on the head band-strap of the 681,662 original versions, we haven't had a problem with ours in the studio, i am sure all the greasy heads and no harsh lights or sunlight has helped, but my very old 681 pads are all cracked, i just like the feel of the worn out pads. but our asst engineers 662F top vinyl band is cracking, i told him i have an extra strap, but thought it would be cooler to cut some out of real leather, they are easy to replace, the plastic phillips screw inside the buttons for easy replacement. Cheers Doyen at Audiohipster
Hey there, we here in the studio at Audiohipster ship worldwide, and since Avlex here in the states have limited models, we have to special order some models, or get them from the nice people at Heartbeat distributors in Canada. In the 3 years we have been purchasing the HD-681 we have seen the wholesale price creep up, 2$ then 2 more, and now with the new EVO a whopping 9.95 USD from what we could get these for only 3 years ago... anywho, thats putting the new 681 EVO up there with the $5 increase over the same period of the HD668B... and when the 662 series, special order price went up 13 bucks from the distributor ...i said no way, and turned to the nice folks at Heartbeat... they were nice enough to supply a more reasonable price. at any rate... for all you music lovers or headphone fanatics, stay in touch and sign up to our studio newsletter...we are have some great music being recorded, also we will be offering specials in march on the new HD-681 EVO to our friends who stay in touch. Cheers Doyen
Thanks for all the updates Doyen. Can't wait for Paws (Canada) to get these in stock. Is it possible for any one to order through Heartbeat or does it have to be a large retail/wholesale style order?

Hey there. I was wondering if you still expect the new HD-681 the first week of March? If not, when? Do you know the price yet? Thanks.
Heartbeat is a distributor, so you have to have a EIN or resale id to purchase at wholesale, most of the time with headphones you have to buy by the case, normally min of 12 or 24. We will have the EVO 681 early march. Also sorry if i miss any questions directed to Doyen or Audiohipster, besides running a studio and sales i am the stay at home dad, with two crumb crunchers and curtain climbers so don't read every page. Sorry if we miss something... if we don't answer just ask in a direct email. Cheers Doyen
IMA: the street on the EVO HD-681 should be no more then 49 USD, or your getting ripped ...we will offer some specials to those on the newsletter ...FYi Ebay is always a few dollars more due to the 7 to 9% fee. buy direct but without the Amazon take over the world mentally ... :~)
Hey has anyone caught this on the PDF of the HD381 EVO: Ear-pad Leather? i wonder if this is a typo: http://www.superlux.com.tw/upload/function.product.info/47b91797-c1bc-49cd-b85b-797fdc976792/resource/br_HD681EVO_en_web.pdf Also they say: (Includes a pair of ear pads and a pair of foam disks) e'm ...if they are real leather pads... then these are an unbelievable steal... i think they just use the term Leather for pleather_ Viny Faux is my guess, cant believe Superslutz would use real hide, and sell these so affordable. anywho we will have these in Black & White. Cheers Doyen at Audiohipster

The "Includes a pair of ear pads and a pair of foam disks" is about a replacement part you have to buy separately, the EPK681 pads. (Also, I think you meant 681, not 381 :P).

They don't fit. Sorry.
AKG 240 Velours are probably your best bet.
(so that's why I figured it might fit).
