which fostex?
are they modded?
Yes it's sounds very good to me considering the price, too bad i can't withstand the comfort so i sold it
I have an Asus Xonar DG but is there any cheap amp I could get that can make the 668b/681 sound better?
JDSLabs CMOY
A bit warmer, more spacious and help the mids. I didn't like the mids on HD668B unamped, so i use CMOY to help the mids smoother and fuller
Is the only one they have the $60 one? Doesn't seem worth it considering the 668b is only $45 USD now.
Other then that I like it so far. I have heard complaints the mids are dull and thin sounding on the 668b.
Yes, i can think any cheaper that works well with superluxes other than that. Or if you want, build a DIY CMOY yourself, it should be cheaper
Anywhere there is a tutorial?
http://tangentsoft.net/audio/cmoy-tutorial/
Google "how to make cmoy" and there's a lot of tutorial/video on it
Check on ebay. They are a bunch of people selling 2134 based cMoy for 25... with 5 dollars shipping.
I'll see if I can get the cmoy some time, thank you everyone who helped.
Does anyone have any experience with Dales Pro Audio? Specifically ordering online?
I just wanted to throw this into this thread for anyone in the future who wants to read up about doing a sock mod on Superlux cans.
The way that I got the sock to work best with the pads on my hd662f is that I cut off the ankle section that I planned to used (basically a cylinder of cotton and elastic) then flipped the sock inside out, fed it threw the middle of the pad, and flipped the sock over the front of the pad so that the pad was encased in the sock. Then, I used the tension of the elastic in the sock to hold the pad to the cups. Because my pads are really worn, and thin, I cut up cubes of cheap, artificial sponge (just foam) from the dollar store and stuffed them under the pads. With a little ingenuity, this won't take much time or effort. Finding an appropriate sock (or buying one if need-be) takes longer than the modifications themselves.
The comfort has greatly improved, but I have been wearing these with the pads puffed up with things stuck under the pads for so long that I can't recall the change in sound.
I imagine that this concept would work on any set of Superlux cans, but it would probably be best to only do it on closed backed ones, as the sock would cover some vents.
Edit: a quick diagram/cross-section of what I described. Don't judge my art skills.
