I received my 668b's yesterday and listened to them for most of last night. I like them right out of the box. The highs are a bit forward, the mids recessed, and I find the bass lacking a tad. These phones don't hide a whole lot, if you have a poor recording/mastered disc they will reveal all flaws. That is not to say they aren't fun to listen to though. I heard a lot of things in various recordings that I have not heard before. They are very detailed. Now, granted, I don't have a reference set of phones to compare them to, nor do I have a good desktop amp/dac, so I am going by what I like in good sound and to me these phones sound really good for the money. Are they giant killers? I seriously doubt it. But at the end of the day who cares. For the money i paid these are a kick ass set of phones that have mod potential and will bring many thousands of hours of musical enjoyment. I do plan on attempting some of the mods that are mentioned here and elsewhere to tame the highs and tighten up the bass.
Is there a mod to coax out the mids a bit more?

I've heard that these earpads will fit on the 668b.I was planning to buy them when I get my 668s next month :D And only $14. Does anyone know if they do?
Looking for reviews on Superlux HD668B verses Samson SR850.
From reading, they are the exact same headphones except the headbands are different.
Hello, i want advice on which superlux to get. I'm a iem guy and want to get a can for a cheap price. I mostly listen to rock , pop, and instrumentals. Vocals would be my main focus. Which superlux should i look into getting?
The Samson SR850 (made by Superlux) and Superlux HD668B seem to be the good bang for the buck headphones.
Both are semi-open
SR850 is 32-Ohm with a fixed cable.
HD668B is 56-Ohm with a detachable cable.
The 662F are worth a go too. Preferred them to the 668 as they do not have the nasty recessed mids. Bit peaky at the top end but then so are the 668. The HD660 are good too and have a slightly more laid back signature with no fatiguing highs but I think the 668 and 662 have better technicalities.

Thomann sells AKG K240/241/270 Velour ear pads that fit on the these headphones.
Has anyone had any luck sourcing a North American vendor for the pads? I would be interested if so.
Headphone dot com has them, listed under K271 velour ear pads, $46.
Thanks PurpleAngel. That's more than I paid for the phones though. Are the pads simply a comfort issue or are there sonic benefits as well?
I only bought the AKG K240 Velour ear pads for comfort, sonic benefits never really factored in to me buying them.
I had ordered 2 headphones and three pairs of the velour ear pads from Thomann in Germany.
The Velour ear pads sold for $20 and shipping came to $8 per item. So $28 per pair.
Would not have been worth it to pay the $46 per pair, sold in the USA.
How do the 668b's compare to the 662f/CAD Audio mh310
