All right Guy's and Gal's, let's hear about Your Favorite's, I know there are a lot of Drummer's and air Drummer's out there, so don't be shy! Some of and I mean Some of My Fav's are:                                                          Buddy Rich,   John Bonaham,   Keith Moon,   Roger Taylor,  Vinny Paul Evans and   Joey Jordinson,  So let's see how many We can come up with!  atsmile.gif ROCK AND ROLL ON FOREVER!  beerchug.gif

Neil Peart????

I am probably a little older than many on the board but I have been going to Rush concerts since 1976 ("Fly By Night Tour") and have seen them 28 times.  Loved Neil as a rock drummer.  But over the past 10-15 years I have ventured into contemporary jazz.  Generally speaking these guys are far better musicians.  Take a rock musician and put him in a jazz setting and they are pretty uncomfortable but take a jazz musician and put them in a rock setting and they are very comfortable (because that's probably where they started).

It's all debatable but I would say Antonio Sanchez is the best drummer on the planet at the moment.  Look him up and you will see why.  Dave Weckl comes to mind as well.  I read an interview with Neil Peart a few years back where he fully acknowledged that jazz drummers were on a whole nother level.

If drum solos bore you at least speed up toabout the 4:20 mark.   Fricken' incredible.....

Steve Smith.  He is now part of a fusion band called Vital Information.  He's a great drummer!

Completely obvious, but if Peart's listed, then Billy Cobham has to be too.

Not so obvious Elvin Jones and Max Roach

Ironically, there is little to truly demonstrate Keith Moon's genious on You Tube as he hated drum solos, but what a character, what a life, what a drummer

Of living drummers I would nominate Chris Wee from And So I Watch You From Afar......

My personal faves...

Aynsley Dunbar.  Of various bands and artists including John Mayall, Frank Zappa, Ian Hunter, Lou Reed, Jefferson Starship, Jeff Beck, David Bowie, Whitesnake, Sammy Hagar, UFO, and Journey.

Joe Morello - Drummer for The Dave Brubeck Quartet.  Love, love, love Morello's drumming.

Sadly, he justed passed away a week or two ago...
