For what it is worth, no gapless playback for the stock music app in 1.33.

You do get a Share option to Bluetooth or Email now when pressing and holding on a music file name.

1) What does the the 4X playback performance mean? I don't understand the 2.00x x reference nor 4X playback wording.

2) Do you have any idea how the sharing works? Is it possible to transfer music or movies wirelessly or to another Cowon D3?

Also, what are the chances that Cowon will eventually add gapless playback?

You can speed up or slow down playback of audio and video files.  Used to be limited to 1.5x and .5x (I think) of original speed.  Now it goes from .5 to 2.0x.

Sharing pops up options to share via bluetooth or email.  Tap on bluetooth and so long as bluetooth is on it will let you seletc another device you've prev iously paired with.   Tap on email and it will open the email app with the file as an attachment in a new email composition.

Sorry, you may have missed the post after my first question. I was wondering what your thoughts were if Cowon would eventually add gapless music playback and if you think the problem is hardware limitations or software related. Thanks.

Gapless isn't a hardware limitation, because the rockbox app can do it on the D3.  Cowon knows how to do it, although their android experience is young and it may take them awhile. It didn't show up in this update.

I don't pretend to now about how these players work so forgive am wrong.

Some player manufactures are touting gapless playback as a main selling point for their product. Judging by the fuss on the Internet and not every player supporting gapless, leads me to believe it is a difficult process to run. By hardware limitation I meant that maybe the innards of the Cowon D3 are not powerful or geared towards gapless playback. I read here on the forums that a possible reason for the sluggishness of the IU can be attributed to the low amount of RAM included in the D3. I was thinking that maybe this small amount of RAM would not be able to handle the process of gapless playback(if it is indeed a heavy process) because the hardware is used to be more efficient at other processes and was not designed for this task. Is it possible that the amount of efficiency or RAM required for D3 specific gapless exceeds the best possible revision in code. Could it be that gapless is too difficult for Cowon to implement that it because of those theoretical limitations that they will dismiss the feature? For example Computer A is PC video game geared beast. It can run game processes smoothly and look nice graphically with litte effort. Computer focused providing a speedy Internet experience only. Computer B would never be able run beautiful smooth playing games like Computer A because no matter how good the FW the architecture was not built for those processes in mind. Could this be the case?

Gapless on the D3 has nothing to do with the hardware/firmware/ram.  How do I know?   Because gapless DOES work using the Rockbox app for android on the D3.

Ok thanks for the reassurance.

No problem.  Expect firmware updates 2.33, 3.33, and 4.33 to come out in a few days.
