computer audio since turing and shannon

okay everyone, please help me out if you can point to a computing pioneer commenting on music. I'll start with Alan Turing and Claude Shannon, two seminal figures who gave us the universal machine and the sampling theorem, respectively:

 

“Shannon wants to feed not just data to a Brain, but cultural things! He wants to play music to it!”
