I bought these headphones just for the fun of it, to see how they sound with all that apparently amazing bass.
Well, for $50, they're ok sounding for extra bass headphones. They do have a...
Bought it some time ago, based on user reviews. Straight out of the box it seemed huge, especially compared to my old Cowon D2. Also, sound was awful. Granted, I don't have large hi-fi cans, only...

Anyone have tried re-terminating your earphones/headphones with a dock (the one used for LODs) and plugged straight into iPod line out to play music? If so, does it work and is it any better than using the 3.5mm jack?
That is a horrific idea. The output of the iPod is fixed and so without an amp to control the volume, you'll blow your ears out, or in the very least, only have one, extremely loud volume. File this next to the jump to conclusions mat.

Oh yeah.. forgot all about the vol control.. guess its not possible
Actually, just for the sake of asking, isn't the FIIO E1 an amp at the dock leading to a 3.5mm? So if instead of leading into a 3.5mm couldn't it just lead into earphones that way? So you're actually getting an amp/earphone combo built into one. Is that possible?
