Just stumbled on this on ebay. It states it is based on the Lehmann black cube linear. Has any one ordered one of these and have some impressions of this?

Looks like a very sober Matrix M-Stage. Schematics don't look too bad. Could be worth it's asking price considering some Cmoys cost about the same. :) Try it and let us know! Maybe it's the next FOTM.
I might actually buy it, I don't have an amp yet, been looking for the past 3 months for something to power my akg k400, and almost bought a v-can or headbox mkII yesterday, but with some further reading I ended up not wasting/spending my money on it.
Considering that it is almost the same price as a cmoy, are the schematics similar to a cmoy except for the use of batteries?

I am now conviced that the more expensive version he sells resembles the Matrix M-Stage in a lot of ways. The only thing I'm not too sure about are the capacitators (the light blue barrel-type parts). You could ask him which part numbers they are. The more expensive chassis looks great though. I think this is a decent amplifier for the money. The Matrix M-Stage is getting some really positive reviews, so if this one resembles the M-Stage you're good. They're both based on the Lehmann design. I noticed some LM317T's in his build. Those are easy to upgrade so this design even leaves some space for DIY. The build quality and PCB layouting look nice and tidy too. I'd bite.
I mailed the seller asking him if I could purchase the prettier chassis only. Would come in handy for a DIY project I'm considering.

I asked him about the capacitors.
After doing a bit more research it seems this amp is close to or is the same as this diy kit, link , head-fi link. Or am I wrong?

You sir, are damn right. It's a Lovely design. So, you buying? :)
I will buy I believe, just will have to decide if i buy the lovely cube, or one of the other 2. Wondering if the cheaper one will sound a lot worse or not,and if I buy the cheaper one then I can get a better DAC latter on, something to think about for today.

The lower cost one uses a small Panasonic volume pot, which is known to have some channel imbalance until about the 9 o'clock position. To make the board smaller it looks like they got rid of the pre-amp by-pass and 1 1/4" headphone jack.
Keep in mind that they state the transformer is wired for AC 220~240V (Europe and Asia) voltages.
Otherwise it looks like a great deal for the money!
The same vendor also sells the well regarded Panda amp as a kit. Monster thread about it here: http://rockgrotto.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=hifidiynet&action=display&thread=6520

Thanks for the link to the Panda amp, didn't know about it, as far as I am reading it sounds great. Maybe Ill buy that, but do you need to be very good at soldering, I soldered once when I was about 6, and then last week when I had to fix the wiring inside my headphones.
Is it possible to replace volume pots?
