okay, I'm my way over - unless my camel's "prat"falls "slam" me into the dunes before I get there. I tried the asynchronous diet for my camel because I heard it makes the ride less "jitter"y, but I am now not so sure this particular even-toed ungulate is any cleaner in the mids than it was before - could just be a placebo. but when I upgraded to a cryo'd leash, it became much steadier in the lower frequencies, that's for sure. and I'm using some really neat mods on my saddle to pre-amp the camel ride, too.

sounds like you're underweight, 140lbs at 6' tall?

Not only does looking down make you more distracted, but having your head in the pavement makes you look less "active", "alert" and maybe even down/depressed, and thus more a target. It also sets you off balance.

As far as EDC, I carry a surefire and a knife. Worst comes to worst, I think they'd make a fairly decent combination in the hands of anyone with even cursory experience (Ask a friend or a friend's dad who's a cop or something along those lines to show you  what NOT to do, because that's even more important than knowing what to do.)

Anyone asks? I've carried a knife since I was in scouts, and the flashlight is because I don't like the dark, or I left it in my pocket after working on the car.

We have four members in our club. Yes. We should all use S&W .500's as CCWs.

That's a bad idea, you guys are so scrawny that you could hardly conceal such big guns :p

That's easy for me. I don't live in NYC. biggrin.gif

I can also run pretty fast. I carry a 4D Mag Lite in my car, although that wouldn't help me if I were on foot.

The problem isn't concealing them, it's firing them without breaking our wrists

What is the next step up from a .45 (M1911)? That is my favorite firearm that I've fired. It is just...fun.

and yes loremipsum, get off the computer..

just because you carry a guy, or shoot a gun for that matter doesnt mean you need to kill the person.  what are you going to do? well you could fire a warning shot in the air, or you could shoot for the leg, or arm, or hand or heaps of other non leathal but sure to stop someone from robbing you places.

I would definately not want to have to use a gun, and probably wouldnt suggest carrying one either... just sayin.. not everyone who shoots is aiming right between the eyes.

the thing that makes me nervous about carrying a weapon is.. what if they get it away from you and use it on you..

Or, of course, you could just point it at them and let them run away. Unless they've got a gun as well they'd have to be incredibly stupid to not run when you pull out yours. And if they are armed, the way I see it is that if somebody's going to get hurt, better the criminal than the upstanding citizen.
