What do you mean by fracturing?

Where the optical cable ends, the area has tiny fractures across the fibers. Like a marble that has been struck but is still intact with small fractures in the glass. For some reason the cable tips, at both ends, have done this. I will be sending the 13,000 cable back to SysConcepts so they can send it back to the manufacture. A good field test I guess. The 1300's I have are fine and work great.

There's very little info and opinion on this guy. Are those who have it pleased with the performance of the DB-2? In particular DB-2 -> PB-2 -> demanding headphones?

Thinking of getting it to compliment my PB-2 so I can use my Macbook as source.

Thanks for any opinions or suggestions.

I have the DB1 and compared it to the DB2.  They are very very closed but I will give the edge to DB2.  I didn't upgrade to DB2 because it is to close for me.  But DB2 is a very nice and the only portable balance DAC available.  So if you are using it with PB2 or SR71b, go for it, you won't regret it.  Yes, the PB2 should be able to drive demanding phones.

Excellent, I shall.

Thanks for the info. I do like the PB-2 very much and it seems like a logical partner, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a dud. There is very little talk about the DB-2.

Cheers.
