Why does the Ipod scratch so easily? - Page 3

I used one of those foamy cases for my iPod...it was extremely ugly. But it saved my iPod a couple times when I dropped it onto the sidewalk. Imagine the scratches on it then! I think you should get a case when there's a risk of dropping, but usually I carried my iPod naked. I decided it looked better that way.

Yeah, the scratches on the HDD platter, I'm glad you had it, you'd have been extremely sad if you hadn't.

Agreed. I'm more worried about dropping it than getting scratches. I take my iPod to the gym daily (and run to the gym and back ~3 miles total), so without a case with a belt clip it would be a pain in the ass. Also, it's more discrete with a black case...a definite plus to me. With the case and grey headphones it doesn't attract too much attention.

no, i really dont worry about scratching it,a nd what it looks like. I love these people who just look at it through a plastic bag, and then pile a couple of inches of case onto it so that it does not put little scratches on it. Its an audio player, it does what it is supposed to do, even if it is scratched up, so who cares what it looks like? The worst is these people that spend like 70-90 bucks on a leather case from vaja...thats a little too much, especially after spending 400-500 already on an overpriced audio player in the first place.

I'm hoping you were joking (or you finally gave in), with a sig like this.

I am not an audiophile, you got a problem with that?

It's ok though, the iVod is one hell of a case. I've never heard a iVod owner regret his or her purchase of this case. I don't regret the $70 I paid for mine at all.

Had a look at it, I like the iVod. But I think I'll stick with the Showcase. Anyway, so no opinions regarding a dockable case?

Thanks everyone

Thanks Head-fi. After refusing to buy the Vaja case, specifically because of the outrageous shipping charged by the company, I plan on picking one up at the Apple store. I guess Apple endorses the product by selling it in their stores. Up till now, they have only had 3 or 4 different cases.

Now I ordered a scratch remover to clean it up. Oh well.

Never say never.

You might want to check out the Exo3 case. It's only 0.7mm thick, so you may be able to get your iPod onto the dock with it installed:

Also, Speck Products has their iPod Skin product with a flap on the bottom that you can pull back in order to seat the iPod in the Apple dock:

They also sell their FlipStand case which includes a new dock that allows you to dock the iPod with the case installed:

Exactly what I wanted... Thanks a lot.
