Yeah I noticed.  There seems to a growing sentiment that the 598 might excel in certain areas the 600/650 which is why I ask.  I think based on how you and I hear we might fall into that camp.  I think clarity and bass response you covered.  Detail, resolution and imaging would be good if you get a chance.  TIA.

The items that they're removing from the package to make it 500g(to ship to the US), they're not anything essential, are they?

Also, not trying to hijack the thread or anything, but to those who suggested the Fiio E9, I just bought mine on Ebay from a seller named nachy1818. It's priced $129 with free shipping in the US, but I offered $100 and it was accepted immediately. I don't know if he'll go any lower, but I'm certain he's going to accept $100. Hope it's not against the rules to make such a post.

How would you rate and compare the B&W P5, Fischer Audio FA-011 and the Beats by dre?

 I think the beats are just a fashion statement since everyone and including their mum and uncles have one and claim it is the best headphone in the world and nothing comes close to the beats headphones...

LFF, when you say the highs are slightly emphasized, can you give an idea of how much?  Do they present themselves as bright like, say, a K701 does; or is it more of a slight bump in the upper mids to add air to the sounstage?

Thx LFF.  I would love to hear your thoughts on the 598 sometime.  I was very much the Senn hater for a long time despite Sennheiser being my introduction to high end headphones more than 20 years ago.  For me its been like having a long term relationship with a really hot chick you just can't stand.  Lots of ups and downs.  I'm on an upswing atm.  

I thought I was done w/ low priced phones but the 011 is very intriguing.  By appearances alone one would think the signatures of the 003 and 011 would be the inverse of what they are.  Fun and engaging in the closed can but neutral and accurate in the open one.  Fischer is very interesting.

Thanks for the quick response.  If these have less sibilance issues than the K701 and offer resolution on par with an HD650 for this price then I'm very interested in a pair, as I'm sure many other people will be too as the word spreads.

LMAO, that just made me hold my stomach laughing... I heard the B&W P5 at the Apple Store and it sounded good (even though i don't know what sounds good, because i'm new to this whole headphones business.. lol) but the price tag made me think twice and look around for other alternatives.

Hopefully when I get my FA-011's I will be glad with my purchase.

It hasn't hurt Sennheiser :P They just have products for different groups. I find that a better idea than specializing in one particular group.

Yeah, that's just business.  Some of their cheap IEMs do sound good btw like the SBs.  You can't keep making high-end heapdhones if you go out of business.  The only reason Ferrari ever sold a car to someone not a race car driver was to fund his racing team.  Even then, after awhile Fiat had to save its ass.

Hahaha, I just did something totally crazy. I bought the FA-011 and HA-02 combo from them :)

They didn't have that notice when I ordered, so a bit disgruntled that they are taking them out. 

However, I believe those are easily replaceable for about $3 bucks plus shipping at monoprice and probably are equivalent or better, so shouldn't be a huge deal.  But still bit annoying.

Haha, cool.  I was tempted to do the same and was mighty curious about the HA-02 amp, since their portamp was pretty well received around here, and I never got to try it out since it's always out of stock.

You have got to put up a review/thoughts of that HA-02 sucker once you get it.  Most curious how it sounds, albeit, I'm guessing pretty good.
