Using a Denon AVR-4802R receiver to drive Denon AH-D5000 headphones

Thread Starter

I recently purchased Denon AH-D5000 headphones and, before I lay out big bucks for a dedicated headphone amp, I'd like to find out if I can expect to get optimum sound from the headphones using my Denon AVR4802R amp for that purpose.

My primary input source will be a Sony DVP-CX777ES 400 disc CD/DVD player. I will be listening mostly to classical music via the headphones because the ambient noise in my listening area often makes enjoyment of the quieter passages and subtlety of the music difficult.

My hope is that somebody out there has experienced this set up or something like it and will be kind enough to share his or her opinion.

I would like to know the specs of Denon's headphone sections in their receivers from the last few years.
