Mother with autistic child needs durable docking station... help?

Thread Starter

I used to work with people that have intellectual disabilities and will be starting again this spring. I used to work with a young lady that I will just call "C". She has severe autism and often becomes very violent. Her mother wants a music player for her house that she can connect her ipod touch to. But she wants it to be small, easy to move, and durable. That way C can't find it while it is playing and she won't be able to break it if she does get her hands on it. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks for taking the time to read my thread.

Peace,

most portable dock players should be fairly easy to move, and are made to withstand handling. something like the Logitech S135i doesn't seem easly damaged, unless it's thrown on the floor and stamped on. the audiophile in me is gonna recommend you the more expensive player, but the main factor here is probably how likely is she to break it.

Yamaha and Klipsch also make some pretty looking, and sounding portable players. more choices on eBay too.

@ Sonic Atrocity Many children with autism (including my own) have issues filtering background sound/noise. To give you an idea, about half of the children in my son's class wear construction worker headphones in the classroom when working individually on tasks. A pair of those (Home Depot, ...) could be helpful if the child seems restless while mom listens to music, though it's not a guarantee the child will accept to wear them.
