Hey Guys

Searched google for this, but,

i have a Fuze, and am thinking of building an amp for me (Mini3).but because i have RE-ZEROs, i was thinking hey, why not go balanced?

but, a balanced amp with an unbalanced source, would it be productive, if at all?

i am planning to use an LOD with my fuze.

Thanks

If I am not completely out of order I think it works but dont hit me if I am wrong. I have in mind the there is the DNA Sonett with balanced output as an option and also only have an RCA input. Further there is the Concerto with "balanced ground architecture" but with an SE output.

Maybe you have to ask yourself if it is worth going balanced with a Fuze and the Mini3..

Hehe, its not for if its worth going the balanced way...i wanna do it coz i can....

i'd try a balanced CMoy, and the Default Mini3

But seriously, does it make sense with Unbalanced source and balanced Amp and phones?

Actually it depends on the architecture of the balanced circuit. This means that some amps can be balanced with unbalanced input and others require a balanced input.

As far as I know Ray Samuels has a portable balanced amp with some more infos. Maybe you will find some more information over there.

Sorry that I am totally single ended :)

Ray sometimes gets it.

You need a "phase splitter" circuit. Most SS amps do it with a few more opamps, although some designs do integrate the phase splitter into the rest of the amp. One could also use a transformer, except transformers cost money, so one could not.

The AMB B24 comes to mind immediately. So do a bunch of Nelson Pass's designs. No discussion of SE in balanced out is complete without mention of every electrostatic headphone amp ever made. OOOH, and the K&K Raven.
