OK I'm in poll-mode today.. so ..

How many MP3's you got?

Just a Total. Most MP3 managers can give you a total or report. If you don't have one allready try Dapyx.

I don't even want to know where you got 'em. We all have the original CD's, right. heh.

i think is best posted in Portable Audio forum..? dunno

For me it is just a handful that I have in an old RCA player I use at the gym on occasion.

After reading Austin's review of the Gateway player it may change in the near future.

3700 more and you get some Respect

start ripping!

I had a huge project earlier this year to convert all my CD's to MP3 using EAC and LAME (-APS). Took a long, long time but only have to do it once. Backed up in triplicate. over 200gb. 2 copies stored at home, 1 at girlfriend's house in case of fire. i don't even bother with CD's anymore, too much hassle to find what I want, too bulky to carry around, and easily scratched. I just keep them in case the RIAA busts into my house in a SWAT-style raid. Fuggers.

Interesting question. I have 200-250 MP3 CDs, estimate 100-150 songs per disc... so 20k is not unrealistic. Jeez! I've downloaded most of them off the alt.binaries.mp3 hierarchy.

ehh... most people that think it sucks just don't understand. it's all about how ya encode them

can be pretty near CD. I won't claim CD-quality on any MP3 though. I can still hear background compression noise on mp3's properly enocoded with EAC and LAME but it's very tolerable considering the portablity.

But hey, I don't own any SACD players or DVD-A either. I think my best source is a Sony D25S haha

2007 compressed songs.

Largely all Vorbis files, but a couple mp3's in there. The mp3's are just a couple live tracks that weren't released.

I've tried different encoders, used different LAME settings, checked out Ogg Vorbis... yeah, none of the lossy compression does it for me

It's either lossless or uncompressed for me
