Getting the Most out of my ATH-AD700 & X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro

Thread Starter

Hey,

after a bit of research i decided to purchase the AD700 and an X-Fi titanium fatal1ty Pro.

most of what i do is gaming, and i can't tell if i'm setting up my settings in the proper way.

the sound quality is greatly improved, although i feel like i was expecting more in terms of sound position.

what settings do you guys use when you play games like bad company 2, cs:s, black ops, and others?

here is how i have it set up:

  • Game Mode
  • CMSS 3D headphone enabled. MacroFx and Elevation Filter on Auto
  • Crystalizer is at 90%
  • EQ preset is set to EQ-Acoustic.....Level 0dB
  • EAX enabled at 0dB
  • bass boost is disabled, as are the other encoders (dts, dolby)

right now i feel like my gun, and movement overshadows anything that could help me position an enemy.

thanks in advance to any gamers out there that can shed some light on this problem!!!

Turn off Crystalizer altogether and try it out again.

When I had the X-Fi XtremeGamer, I felt the CMSS 3D just messed up the soundstage but I see it recommended so much, maybe it's just me and/or my gear.  Soundstage is best for me without any DSPs of any kind except the ones in the game itself, like CS:S/DOD:S.

See how CS:S performs with all soundcard DSPs off, then when you are ingame go to the console and type in the following (Audio settings in the game must be set to stereo 2.1):

dsp_enhance_stereo 1
dsp_player 1

Using the Headphone setting seemed to make everything sound like it is right next to me, differentiating distance of sounds from my position would become very difficult (but not direction).

I turn all that extra crap off when I play games...using an XtremeGamer though so...
