NEW information on JH-3a - Page 141

Notice with this announcement total lack of input from the forum owner. I for one do not feel safe purchasing anything ever again from anyone selling or sponsoring this forum if this is what is allowed to happen to members money!

Also, completely agree with Blessingx. Please let's not hear eulogizing this week about JH at RMAF, This has never been about the sound quality, though the few that have had them report excellent sound it has been flawed and not what was promised so no matter the potential the actual simply was not there as a cohesive whole which was promised!

Rather it is about a company that has shown little or no care for it's customers who have spent well over $100,000 with them and that is just from my reckoning forum members money, on this project!

Just learned about the spec change for JH3A.  What the...

It sucks that JH decided to hide this from so long ago.  Anyone that's had to go through all the way with this deserve at least the few piece of trinkets they're handing out, and the supposed adapters that they're talking about releasing as a separate item.

I would not be surprised if the new version 'sounds better' than the original active crossover approach.  After all, people pay thousands for speakers whose only real difference is better tuned crossovers.  It does kill the promise of versatility that we heard when the product was first announced, though, and because everyone's listening preferences are different I thought this was the be-all-end-all to satisfy everyone's need at the highest level.

Do not like how they seem to be keeping this as well hidden as possible, either.  I'll still enjoy my JH16s, but I won't go out of my way to talk about their relative greatness compared to other items at meets and such.  No way I can recommend a company that backstabs consumers at the highest level.

Wow! I just don't understand it ... why is it so difficult to sincerely/publicly apologize, show some humility, tell the full truth and entire story, and be 100% genuine with people?

Sorry, a few buried Facebook responses or personal emails that people have reposted doesn't cut it.

It's crazy, this feels a little like a relationship where the girl (customers) desperately wants to give the guy (JH) a second chance to say sorry, be honest and real, make amends and win her back.

And the guy just has too much pride or whatever, he can't just man up, be real and vulnerable and show her that he really, truly cares and will do anything for her.

Even after all this, I feel like MANY here would still give JH a chance to explain and make things right -- in a heartbeat, actually .... but they are NOT seizing the opportunity and -- like any woman would in the above scenario -- customers are just sloooooooooooowly drifting away. And canceling, I'm sure :(

So sad. I really, REALLY want the best for them, they seem to be nice people with such an awesome product, and for all I know the JH-3A could still be IEM/portable audio Nirvana .... but way too many will never know that because this communication is being so thoroughly mismanaged.

Come on JH! It's not rocket science. Many people are still routing for you ... but won't tolerate any more vague/weak communication. Like Russell Peters says, "Be a man! Do the right thing!"

EDIT: I'm not going to judge, or presume to know what's in JH's mind, my prior experience with them (JH16's was great/fast) ... I guess I'm just puzzled by their strategy and frustrated because I really want to see them succeed.

Actually, the patent was not issued until Jan. 2011, long after JH had sold UE.

Interesting. The patent was filed in April of 2006, but not issued until Jan. 2011. I don't know patent applications wind their way through the system, but it took a while (almost 5 years). Could UE have "lit a fire" under the application once they realized that JHA was going to beat them to market?

Just askin...

I've enjoyed the (unfinshed) unit and I'm sure the v2 will be impressive but there is a bad taste for sure and in business it doesn't wash out very quickly - depending on actions taken of course.

You'll have it for what it's worth.  I'm not sure what good it will do.  Regardless of my opinion after auditioning the final version, I will not be bringing the V1 back since it's not going to be supported going forward and seems to represent some kind of legal liability at this point, although I haven't been asked to return it to JHA.  My fear is that with only a universal tipped JH16 demo shell, I will not be able to truly compare it to my own custom shells.  If the original requirement had remained that each pair of shells needs to be tuned to an amp with the new crossover design, I won't be able to do an apples-to-apples comparison on the spot, particularly as far as the imaging is concerned.

The only exception to this would be the use of that TRS adapter, Jerry has eluded to and use one of my passive pairs.  Either way, I'll do the best I can.

Its not unusual for a patent application to take 5 years.

Where would we be if the first launch of the product was a success and all early adopters had their products in hand?  I wonder how this situation would be handled or if it would have never came about?

Things to ponder!

Blows my mind that this was announced in June 2010.

The suposed "patent" looks like the same patents/designs etc as modern digital hearing aids....

On paper at least, the new design sounds to a step backward, but I very much hope whatever materializes in the next couple of weeks exceeds expectations! Would love to improve on my already outstanding JH13s...

This has been a very long and disappointing experience.  I too will ask JHA for a refund and return the JH-3A (active crossover version) and will also sell my JH16pro once it's remodded to anyone who wants to remold them.  A very sad experience. I'm really done with JHA for good. I'll someday reacquire a pair of LCD-2 and a pair of Grado RS1i.

I am truly sorry your having to do this but truthfully if I were in your position I would feel there would be no alternative. This company for me has created irreparable damage by their actions and still to this point show no remorse, only blame to their clients or now UE!

Truly, by their actions they do not deserve anyones business, even if this is the greatest sounding thing ever. I hope you enjoy your LCD's when you get them. As I type I am in heaven listening to Renee Fleming on mine with my stepdance/CLAS/Classic

I requested a refund early this week. Has anyone who asked for a refund actually gotten their money back? I am still waiting...

I did, though it took several emails back and forth, over the course of several days (3-5, or somewhere around there).
