NEW information on JH-3a - Page 9  

I'm predicting Mid May for the first batches to reach early adopters given that the amp has actually worked and Jerry has approved it. 100 amps is not a lot for a factory to pump out and shipping is likely under a week. So 4 weeks should be sufficient bring this project home. I'd love it to be tomorrow but in time to use it outside with the summer weather should be just fine.

 

I'm absolutely certain that the end result will wipe away any frustration felt over the past 8 months of delays. I could have gotten my cash back at any time in the process but given what I heard I never wanted it back, I wanted what we heard in Chicago.

 

I get the frustration felt by people like myself that have had money out there for a while. I do not get the folks that appear to get joy out of adding fuel to the fire in this situation. I'm looking forward to hearing what people think after they get the 3a and have had a week or so to share their thoughts.

 

I'm thinking of using a Halide Bridge from my MBP to the 3a using a bnc to 1/8 adapter. This way at least high end sound is transportable at resolution up to 24/192 as I've got 2 dozen plus files now at that range and even more at 24/96.

 

You may want to consider something like the m2tech evo as the halide only supports up to 24/96. Usually not a big deal, but since you actually have 24/192 files it may matter to you. Both are great async spdif converters for the money - just depends if you need the 192khz capability

Huh? What are you talking about?

i wouldnt be so sure about that.  A late august order is still pretty early in the grand scheme of things.

I ordered mine roughly around that time and they told me they had less than 100 orders. Plus there were most definitely some cancellations after that time.

 

i remember jh started accepting orders during spring last year so i thought/thinking a 100 worldwide isn't a lot... i don't know..... i hope you're right Br

 

It's free so hard to complain, but I'm just hoping the hood hangs low enough that when down covers that monstrosity on the back.

i dont know.. the cotton looks a little thin.. i was hoping it would be thicker so that it would ad an extra layer of shielding from outside RF noise...

 

^ if the hood doesnt hang low enough you could probably get the cryo'd hood from ALO - its about $300 but it will cover that back logo WAY better than the stock hood.

 

 

 

^ double blind tests dont work in this situation b/c then you couldnt see the hood.  no.. in this case the only way to accurately distinguish the coverage of one hood over the other is to cover your ears and do the elusive  "double deaf test".

 

Ahh Yes... the ol' Double-D test... gotten me thrown out many a drinking establishments

 

Ah yes I see the clear flaw in my logic, the double deaf test it is then!  I eagerly await some brave headfi'ers to perform this...possibly at a meet? The results should be quite interesting to say the least and I'm sure spark up a lively debate in the sound science forum.
 

 

Back to the topic of this thread ... I've been sitting on the sidelines (especially after seeing all the drama) with the JH3A's and just recently ordered the 16's.

I love them but am tempted to go the JH3A route if ordering now meant I could have them back by end of May or even first half of June. I've emailed JHAudio

to see what they estimate the lead time to be ... their website now says "Spring 2011" for new JH3A orders, so that's promising.

 

I've already got a Solo to run through it -- yes I know it's a waste of the Solo's DAC but given what I've heard from iPod/Lossless --> Solo --> Mk2 --> Jh16's ...

I can only imagine how good the 3A (along Craig's custom cable) is going to sound with it. 

 

Looking forward to hearing everyone's impressions.
