NEW information on JH-3a  

Thanks for the information. Today was supposed to be the date that they had all the amps.  No update on Facebook and I guess the other thread is locked.

I got it to, it is great that they started using email.

 

Do you think this is new final design, or just for prototype?

i spoke to both Brittany and Jerry Harvey (he's left China) yesterday and they confirmed that there will be 3 inputs - analog (1/8"), mini-usb, and spdif coax (not optical). things are progressing, folks!

 Is there a good, better, best to these three options?  For example, is spdif coaxial best? 

 

this arrangement gives more flexibility, depending on what you want to do and what source you want to feed it with.

 

From the Solo, I meant to ask.   Sorry...

 

From solo, SPDIF coax is best.

i think the coax may be the way to go here, but i could be wrong. in the not too distant future i expect both units will be in users' hands and their experience will better answer this question.

 

Oooo, we finally get a new picture!  Now the interesting thing is that there are two radial knobs now (one for volume and one for bass port).  My question is whether or not those will still be digitallly controlled (like in the Canjam prototype) or if they will be analogue dials.  My guess is that at least bass control will be digital since the DSP is supposed to keep it in phase even when it gets boosted or reduced.

Thanks....and yes, you're right, once we get this in our hands we can discuss and compare output/input cable options.  I did pose the same question to the JH Audio crew and will report back when I hear from them.

 

well it took them  9 months, but they finally sent an email update.. my goodness.. better late than never?... i guess... its a sore spot for me, but whatever. 

 

I'm digging the new dual volume knobs.. i would be happy if it stayed that way. 

according to their website both the regular volume, and bass are digital so i think they would have been obligated to tell us if that changed.. but due to the DSP i dont think it could have anyway.

 

i ordered the rust amp. i hope its full rust rather than black face plates.. but hey if thats my only niggle i can live with a little black.

 

The MCU issue has been addressed... - what is the MCU? and what was the issue?  clearly i missed something here.

MCU is the Mercantile Craftsmen Union, it's the biggest labor union in China. During their most recent negotiations contract, the Chinese govt awarded them an extra 6 weeks of time off after the Chinese New Year. Well this just didn't fly with Jerry, so he flew over in person to light some fires and kick ass (he's a cousin of Chuck Norris don't ya know)
