Soundcard to USB DAC good for playing Games?

Will a cheap soundcard, Asus Xonar DG for example help to get better quality audio while gaming?

Already have a proper USB DAC and Headphone Amplifier.

This is my current setup for music / games -> PC  USB to Ibasso D10 Cobra to a Heed Canamp

For music i use foobar2000(Kernel Streaming) ,that leaves me without a DSP for gaming, Dolby Headphone or CMSS-3D.

I'm thinking of a cheap soundcard that can handle the DSP stuff and connecting it(S/PDIF) to my D10 and the Canamp.

I wonder if this will work  smily_headphones1.gif

So i can keep using my D10 and Canamp while gaming as well.

That should do or an OEM X-Fi XtremeGamer (I've seen them on fleabay) is a larger version of the Xtremegamer card and includes I/O optical if you want to use that (a little cheaper too).  You only really need it for the DSPs and they will still work for when you are using USB output to the D10.

Thanks!

I was worried that I couldn't use the DAC in the Ibasso D10 if i put a soundcard in, and have to buy a more expensive soundcard to act as DAC.  As you stated I only need a soundcard for the DSPs, DAC is the D10s work :)

Probably will connect the soundcard using I/O optical to the D10
