I've tried it on cheaper phones, but i'd recommend against this step. The paper adds resistance to air flow and removving it (generally) makes the driver undamped and more, the backwave could be ruining the sound quaite a lot.
Remove the back cover for easier and more precise measurement of dampening material. You do that buy unscrewing the two additional screws holding the back plate. I hope this hope.

I replaced the pads using my Nokia's Bluetooth headphone pads (Nokie BH-604) and it works perfectly. Noticed some changes in sound and is much more comfortable.
Are there any methods for the headband? I find that the top of my head gets too much pressure from the lightly padded headband and it gets uncomfortable wearing these cans for more than 20 minutes even... anybody else have this issue?
