Hilarious.

Now how would Dazed and Confused sound in mono? Oh right Zeppelin only used Stereo for that album!

Sony/Columbia has some of the weirdest advertising techniques...

Maybe Dylan said that because his singing sounds so bad in stereo.

When she heard that Dylan had become a Christian, a co-worker of mine said, "Oh, that's nice!  Now I wish someone would save his voice!"

Pretty funny, shame the mono recordings sound like crap.

Are you referring to Dylan's mono box set that came out last year?  I own it and think it sounds great, much like The Beatles mono box set.  I like listening to music that was recorded in mono originally because it sounds more natural in mono then when they attempt to mix it to stereo

You know, I've heard other say they sound great, but I just don't get it.

Is it a speaker thing or something? I can't really hear anything to like through headphones.

I listen with both speakers and headphones and actually prefer listening to mono with headphones.  I guess it's not for everyone but I enjoy it

Some recordings sound better in mono. For instance, Bob Dylan. Why? Because it is usually just him singing with a guitar.

If you get other instruments into the mix then stereo sounds better.

Even with a single human voice, a properly set up stereo pair and stereo reproduction will always create a more realistic sound. Our minds always perceive a stereo image, even from mono recordings.

I'm a proponent of stereo for everything, but none of the early stereo hard pans for special effects should ever have existed, and artificial stereo never seems to sound right.

The reason the mono box sets sound great is because the recordings were never true stereo to begin with: they were mono tracks mapped to stereo.
