More cans = more frustration. Good "do-it-all" cans?

The more I buy, the more frustrated I become.

What I've got:

Koss PortaPro - Rock

AKG Q460 - DJ, Jazz, Blues, Pop, General Purpose

Sony XB500 - Club, Trance, Techno, Eustachian Tube Cleaner

I was considering some Grado SR80i's or AKG k518DJ's to try to cover all genre's. I'd prefer a closed design thus I'm shying away from Grado. I thought my taste leaned more toward the HipHop / DJ scene until I busted out some 80's Rock (G'n'R, Alice Cooper, etc...) Now I'm just totally stumped.

Is there a good "do-it-all" can that I can drive from my Clip+? I would be tempted to sell all I got just to get something that will cover all my bases.

Maybe this should go in the full size cans forum perhaps.

I'm resurrecting this dead thread because I think it's worthy of discussion in the portable space for others (myself included) on the lookout for some versatile cans.

I have personally found that my AKG K171 phones are not portable enough for me... which makes sense because they're studio phones. But I'm on the lookout for something that sounds about the same... maybe with a touch more bass. I've heard the K480NC is good with NC turned off, but the trebles are not where I'd want them... from what I've been told. I'm also very interested in the Beyerdynamic DT 1350 but have heard the mids are not as good as most AKG's. So I'm kinda stuck as well.

Thoughts?
