My wife would have the exact same preference... Simply because she can't stand IEMs, she hates the feeling of anything shoved up her earcanal. She says that even if it sounds a million times better, she won't be able to enjoy it if it feels that bad. So she prefers a regular earbud, even if it sounds significantly worse...

When the best thing you liked in The Hobbit is when Thorin and the Dwarfes sing Misty Mountains in Bilbo's house. For those who haven't seen it i must say it's the best movie i have ever seen.

Was a little peeved on that too, but now i know how they sing it so i can imagine the song in my head when i read the book again.

Also I bought the OST on itunes and it's still only the first verse :(

YKYAAW when you will try to makes notes about how to play the OST of The Hobbit, so they match with the story when you read the book.

Very untrue. This is not being an audiophile. Being an audiophile is going to esoteric extents to enjoy your music, not analyze it and pick at it until it's nothing more than a bunch of frequencies to you.

Don't use onboard soundcards, motherboards have a LOT of EMI bouncing around which leads to lots of noise on the signal. I'd suggest getting something like an HT OMEGA Claro Halo and using the optical port on it to an external DAC.

You know you're an audiophile when you'd rather spend $600 on HE-500 headphones than pay off student loans.

I just got a FiiO E10 the other day and my dad asked me how much is cost. I told him the price and how the E10 is almost a steal at what I got it for and he said "That's a lot of money for something that you don't need. You can just plug it in to your computer. Stop wasting money"

And when I got him to trial my rig with an FLAC rip of Queen's Greatest hits he just had a huge grin on his face
