One of the worst things that can happen in life.  Paying out serious dough to see an artist and having some idiot soundboard man cranking the volume beyond the capability of the sound system on the belief that louder is better.  One of the loudest shows I ever heard (The Who in"81) sounded great with matched equipment.

You'll get there. Over time you'll learn most of the more common ones, and of course there will be times when a new one pops up and gets its FOTM status for a while (the Panasonic RP-HTF600 was one such FOTM that I missed entirely).

You know you're an audiophile when you buy every FOTM to compare it to the FOE (Flavor Of Eternity), the M50.

When you design your own headphone out of boredom.

It's an electrostat. The white headband is the kind of fabric mesh on the MDR-SAx000 line, and the white backs on the earcups are metal mesh. The rendering engine of the 3D modeling program I use doesn't handle textures well so I didn't include them.

You know you're an audiophile when you look at that rendering above and recognize a lot of the style cues (e.g. before even reading the explanation, I knew the headband was from the Sony MDR-SAx000 line). BTW, the bails look a little like the ones on the T1.

You know your an audiophile when you're listening to Welcome Reality by Nero (yeah, its dubstep, don't hate), you recognize the third song from a commercial advertising beats audio in a laptop and you die a little inside
