Take a look at (tests-that-shall-not-be-named) and derive your own conclusions. devil_face.gif

I read most ofthe posts now..and it made me smile..and i can agree with what some say..still..i did a A to B comparision last year between my standard cable of my he300 (that i had at he time) and the DHC cable i had bought. And even others who didnt even know which one was standard they all (even not audio experienced people) found the dhc cable gave more details and was more airy...if they only knew how expensive that cable was..lolz..but if u put in ur mind a cable dont make a difference..not even a multi million worth of cable will..as ur mind is very strong..and i respect that..if i sound subjective..then so be it....i even belive that a good powercable helps as interconnects..or even anti vibration thingies..yep i must sound crazy... biggrin.gif

But really, to each his own. One man's trash, another man's treasure. Let's hope the cable/anti-cable fanatics don't get a sniff of this thread for the future of our "you know you're an audiiophile" jokes. Here's another one.

You know you're a TRUE audiophile when you let your ears and your heart tell you if something sounds better, even if you disagree with others' opinions. smily_headphones1.gif

More like .0001%.... I only wish I could get higher than my HD518. (Don't get me wrong, I love it, but if I had a HE400 and a modi, magni combo I would be so happy.)

Trust...these are the answer. They can make your 518 sound like at LEAST a 518.001. Its MAGIC!!!!

Any good bookshelf speakers that are active for $300? Looking for something for my Birthday(jeez this hobby) and it would be speakers or a new interconnect and more CD's. Reason for speakers is that I have DT880 + O2/ODAC and to get better sounding headphones I would have to get Hifiman HE-500 or LCD2's.. Now thinking about it.. I could get HE-500 for Christmas if I just ask for money for my birthday.. Decisions.. Would HE-500 be much better then DT880's? You know your an audiophile when this is what your doing..

wolfetan,

You would be hard pressed (lol-actually, it's impossible) to find active bookshelf speakers for $300 that sound better than your DT880s-or even close to them. Therefore I'd suggest either waiting for more money from the money tree (hi mom and dad!), the money grove (hi US government!), or the money road (hi job!). Then, get yourself a nice set of LCD2s. I went into speakers before headphones, so I thought I was getting such a great deal based on price/performance. If I went into HPs first, I probably would have been happy with HD650s and a Bottlehead Crack, but that ain't the nature of this game. You know you're an audiophile when you can give heaps of audio advice just when you're 15 from the constant flow of gear through your room (house, for those responsible/old enough)
