Electronic Music Exchange (House, DnB, Dubstep, etc.) - Page 372

Been awhile since I posted here so really can't promise these haven't been posted before but since I always seem to be the only one who posts Hybrid Minds stuff (maybe not many DnB fans here) than it is probably pretty safe this hasn't been posted before.

For those who like female vocals...

Hard for me to mention female vocals and not mention CoMa.   Shame she doesn't do music with her brother, Koda, anymore ...or at least last I heard.   Great one for future garage fans.   This one also has male vocals though.

I've mentioned at least a couple here before. :D

The ones I'm listening to currently are...

Two MitiS songs (Click to show)

Thanks to the person who mentioned Omnitica.    Really enjoy his Halloween song (Mysteries of Night Town).   Downloaded that, Straw Hat and bought Developing Nation.

I feel like MitiS is really underrated. He produces good stuff and he deserves to be more popular..

My top 3 fav songs by him:
1. Blu
2.Pain
3. Sky and Endeavors

Hard for me to say he is underrated when he gets a lot of cred but its true he isn't a huge name.   His type of music, while very solid, is more chill by nature so he isn't going to be big in the party scene.   There are a lot of artists I think deserve more credit - like Hybrid Minds.   I at least see people mention MitiS quite a bit.  I literally think I am the only one who mentions them (Hybrid Minds) and their DnB is some of the best current DnB more recently (2014 has been pretty quiet overall).

Good list.   I think my favorite MitiS song is Open Window (it's the vocals) then either Blu or Pain.

Hey guys!

Anyone have any recommendations for oppressive electronic music? Music made with a helping of spite, aggression, or otherwise negative emotion. I'd be very curious to hear it. Perhaps something a bit atmospheric, but nothing completely ambient, and nothing completely percussion-based.

Thanks so much!

Not really a popular sub-genre (for lack of better wording) in EDM but I will give you the little I know about.   Some of it will be completely ambient but you may want to give it a try when you have time.   We used to have some regulars that were far more into than I am.   I typically use metal as my outlet for anger as well as "I just want to be left alone" and use EDM to pump me up or chill me down.

Harder Style

HARD STYLE - Open for YouTube vids (Click to show)

3 months old but you may like Teddy Killerz older stuff/too

Dark Ambient

This is actually the darkest (edm) stuff I know.   It will get progressively less dark each vid.   If you really like this ultra dark stuff be careful how far you delve, you quickly find a different group of people to the top 3 songs in this list.   By the time you get to Koda you get to more "mainstream" EDM dark ambient.

Dark Ambient - Open for YouTube vids (Click to show)

This one is by far the darkest...

You will have to watch the recommended vids if you want stuff darker than that or similar.   The actual song name is The Slow Ascend but this video was friendlier on the eyes and had less questionable comments on it.

This next one is probably my actual limit for dark ambient.  Really need to be in the mood to listen to it but its pretty solid.

This next one is pretty much just ok but you may like it more than I do.

Boards of Canada is well known and quite solid.   I recommend that you look into more of their stuff.

Big fan of Koda's work.   This one is NOT completely ambient, though it does have a long intro.

Dark Melodic

Not really sure how else to describe it as most really fall into another category (mostly melodic dub) but they have darker undertone to them.   Possibly that "oppression" feeling you are going for.

Dark Melodic (mostly dub) - Open for YouTube and SoundCloud vids/links (Click to show)

This may be a specialized list just for you, but this song by Dabin and Koda is just plain a favorite of mine.

ENiGMA Dubz - Hard To Smile

Funk D & Jay Sunday - Muthafocka (Proper Villains Remix)

The Proper Villains Remix is more like "junk food" music but the what the hey, you might like it.   There are times I like it.

I don't know if any of that is what you are looking for so I made it so its a pretty varied selection.   If you are looking for angry edm that is pretty much hard to find.   You might want to looking into older Teddy Killerz, Meta and maybe just generally Neurofunk  music.   Rock/Metal is far better for angry music.

Just as points of reference, Nine Inch Nails, that kind of angst and aggression? Too industrial/energetic?

Dark wave/Neue Deutsche Todeskunst like Das Ich, and by extension SPK and Einstürzende Neubauten? (The Germans are suspiciously good at this kind of music) Not electronic enough?

Bakterielle Infektion. Too sparse/harsh? Kreidler. Not angry enough?

Industrial techno like Silent Servant and Sandwell District. Near perfection if you ask me.

Good quality jungle/grime/dubstep has often a dark dystopian streak to it. Urban blight of young black kids and all that, with Burial being a prime example.

Labels like Blackest Ever Black, Tri Angle and PAN releases a steady stream of excellent dark electronica. (Raime, Haxan Cloak, Rashad Becker), but too abstract?

If oppressive is your primary concern, some harsh noise like Kevin Drumm should hit the point quite nicely.

A+ for bright and spheres ( not my favorite trance a little slower but still very good).

I had to miss Ilan Bluestone show ;/. I had surgery the day it was (nothing serious laser treatment kidney stones).

seeing this guy tomorrow night! One of my favorite producers
