Noise... good name! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

i think music is like any other form of art: if it touches someones thought, emotion, imagination etc. i consider that good art. whatever the the artists intention, and whatever the motivation behind the creation was, all becomes irrelevant once the piece is made public, because at that moment it no longer belongs to the artist, and instead belongs to the (in this case) listener.

following that (my) logic, i dont believe there is such a thing as crap music, or anything that can be called plain noise (except plain noise). i have several popular "crappy" artists in my collection. i like what i hear, and thats the only thing that matters. i dont care who else likes it, or who else thinks its crap, or "what the artist intended" or anything. i follow my ears, nothing else.

im coming off as real tree hugging hippie here... it doesnt actually bother me to hear anyone belittling music of any kind.. but gopanthersgo1, you said you only started listening to "real" music. does that mean what you listened to earlier was fake? was it inferior? sub-par somehow? and what makes the more recent stuff worthy? what made you "come to your senses"?

see what i mean? if you liked it, and it moved you in one way or another, thats real music to me.

still coming off as a pretentious ****** arent i? nevermind...

edit: i dont know why it doesnt show up with a background...

I see what you're saying. That's a respectable philosophy, as it allows you to experience many things without putting up walls of biases. I can't argue too much with that.

without putting up walls of biases! thats exactly what i meant to convey. thanks. why give things a miss if you like them? theres a radio thats always on where i work, and here and there a pop song will come on and ill like it. who cares?

on an unrelated sidenote, i didnt know head-fi had a built in language censor. i did some "censoring" of my own mind you, but head-fi went all the way and censored it entirely. cant complain ofcourse, just saying...

So sorry. I really did not mean to come off as passing judgement on the type of music nowadays. Just making an oldman statement about the good ol days.
And speaking of the good ol days, the Autechre box set (1990 to 2000 EPs) finally came in. I had many of these but they got demaged over time. it was nice to have the chance to recover them! Really good stuff!

I also got "the mix collection" by the "tale of us." it is pretty nice, down tempoee, progree,*-- and sometimes even popee, but I am totally enjoying it. Nice for kind of easy listening. Funny, when I ripped it to iTunes, the genera populated as Alternative (rather than Dance or Electronic). This def does not sound like Nirvana or Smashing Pumpkins. Go fig...

Check out Overwerk. My favourite Electronica artist.

You can download his music for free here (legally): http://overwerk.bandcamp.com/

Buzzin' from The Nth is arguably his best song. But he has great songs.

Couple of tracks for Rone's new album. This is not yet avaialble in the States for purchase. I loved his 2009 Spanish Breakfast that was triply, chill, almost dreamlike. I have not made up my mind about this one yet. Check it out.
