But to narrow it down to 5 will be more fun I thought.

Here's mine

5.Modeselektor ; Monkeytown

4.Deepchord : Sommer

3.Monolake ; Ghosts

2.Burial ; Street Halo Kindred

1.Silent Harbour : Silent Harbour

That's gonna be hard to do, but here's a tune in the meantime:

BT - Morceau Subrosa (Ambient)

Lorn - Ask the Dust (Dark Dubstep)

Burial - Kindred (Future Garage)

Soular Order - Ascent, Change of Pace, IV, and Signals (Future Garage / Dubstep)

Two Fingers - Stunt Rhythms (Glitch Hop / Dubstep)

Fairly easy to pick my favorites, but I could never list all of the Honorable Mentions.

The one that barely got pushed out was Sub Focus' Tidal Wave single release, but I pushed it out for Two Fingers simply because that entire album is great.

Keep in mind that while I have listened to a ton of EDM this year, I have also missed out on quite a bit.

EDIT: Also, Dysphemic & Miss Eliza just put out a massive track called 'End of the World'. Can't seem to find it on YouTube, and my laptop isn't playing nice with Soundcloud at the moment, but go listen.

I like this idea.

I'll contribute when I got my full colection infront of me to sort through. I'm going to do my top 5 EPs, and top 5 LPs ^_^

Yeah it's easy to miss gems, especially when you're ignoring everyhting else EXCEPT your preferred genres.

I'm interested in hearing those albums though, as I've been meanign to get my hands on some good future garage.. I've been meaning to check out that new Burial too, and that Mala in Cuba album that's supposedly ground breaking.

Soular Order is my best artist of 2012. His new (free) EP just dropped an hour ago.

Thanks for the heads up. Awesome.

I just downloaded the new Soular Order EP too. I can't pass free High Quality downloads, especially when Morbid recommends them. wink.gif

Well here goes my Top 5:

Meta - The Alpha EP (Dubstep/Ambient)

C&K - Between The Lines (DnB)

Terravita - The Power Of Fire EP (Drumstep)

Culprate - Nigthmares In Reality EP (Dubstep, MidTempo)

After those 4 it's just a bunch of Lifted releases really, and I still really like 2 (Netsky).

So many good releases this year.

Edit:

Also, my favorite tune off the Red Planet LP (The Others' recent album, very good) is a surprise, dark dubstep tune called Antithesis, couldn't find a preview though.

I have literally not heard a single one of these releases all the way through. I am ashamed of myself.

It's ok :)

I think Meta's next release (Lost Beta) will be the best dubstep release of next year (it was supposed to come out today which sucks), a friend from Lifted played it through and it sounds amazing, the sound structure and incorporation of classical instruments is epic.

I loved S.P.Y.'s album as well, same with the BSE one.

Btw, finally finished the 30 page Civil War paper, very interesting stuff, I might be on live this weekend too.

I've been thinking about compiling a list of my own for a while, but I'm waiting till the year is over before I start even thinking about what's going to be on it. Instead of a top 5/10/20 I'll probably make it more interesting (at least for myself) by having multiple categories with only a few entries each. I might do something like:

Top 3 Albums, Top 3 EPs, Top 3 EPs (free), Top 3 Singles, Top 3 Singles (free), Favorite Remix, Favorite New Artist of 2012, Best Discovery in 2012… and perhaps something else if I come up with something.

The last, longer track especially is quite relaxed and smooth, like a mantra. I don't maybe understand what you mean by loud?

Well, it was just my fast listen, I am happy you like it!

BC offers very wide variety of genres, it's for true. I am pleased you understood my point of music being loud. wink.gif

Guys, I am not really into Electronic music. I have been a metalhead all these years. And then I heard some James Blake and got pushed in this direction.

The bands I have been able to appreciate are:

  • Baths
  • Four Tet
  • Lapalux
  • Gold Panda
  • Teebs
  • Shlohmo
  • Mux Mool
  • Sepalcure
  • Flying Lotus
  • Mount Kimbie
  • Shigeto
  • TokiMonsta
  • Nosaj Thing - Drift
  • Balam Acab
  • Eleven Tigers
  • Zomby
  • Kuedo
  • Blackbird Blackbird
  • Vex'd
  • Skream

Could someone make any recommendations of experimental dub kind of albums/artists (Please no vocals)
