Ah, Zed's Dead. What a success story these guys are. I remember these seeing these guys playing to a room of 12 people not even 3 years ago at 751 in Toronto, and now they sell out massive headlining shows across the UK and America.

In Toronto, between Zeds Dead and The Killabits, they started Bassmentality Wedmesdays at Wrongbar in Toronto. Huge dubstep headliners coming every Wednesday. Back when they first got Wrongbar, it was ALWAYS Zeds Dead and The Killabits playing every night, and with their productions and international recognition, Zed's Dead started playing elsewhere. Now, Zeds Dead sell out Kool Huas, one of the bigger concert venues in Toronto, and The Killabits still run Bassmentality, and still sell it out when they play, but somehow Zed's Dead got huge. I'm happy for them. Never met them myself, but Biz and Sam of The Killabits are some pretty cool people.

Well that's enough history lesson for now. Anyone from Toronto in here? I promote for Electronic Nation, Destiny, Embrace, Soul In Motion, Sonorous, On Point, and a few other smaller companies.

Anyways. Audio is a bodmon

EDIT:

Also, this. S.P.Y dropped this at WEMF, I recorded it, uploaded it to YouTube, REALLY **** quality sound, and been pining over what all the tracks are. I now know them all, but this track in specific is really sick, and I asked S.P.Y what they were but he only told me Infiltrate...

Anyways, I just bought this one last night, and listening to it REALLY LOUD. <33333

Cool song, sounds like S.P.Y. as well.

Good ambient-esque song here, huge sub-bass lines midway through:

That CD was so ahead of its time.  You throw some chilldub into some of those songs and you have the style many are aiming for these days.  Digs and Sash tear it up.

I love Souls In Motion - Sensual Illusion!  And I love S.P.Y!  Nice being on a site that actually knows who these guys are.  Talking about EDM on a PC forum is like talking to a inanimate object.  You can only imagine so much you are getting a response back.   Now I gotta link a S.P.Y track ...HAPPY FACE!

And speaking of history lessons (which I enjoyed by the way) this song sampled Danny Elfman's Terminator Salvation.  Most here probably know that so history lesson is short today.  And if you didn't now you know!   tongue.gif

I like the way that one creeps up on ya.  It reminds me of this song:

An instant classic if you ask me.

Apparat, yes. He has for a long time been one of my favourite producers, and I loved his band stuff too.

Got to see him and the band live in Melbourne earlier this year, and it was one of the best show's I've ever been too.

He has an amazing voice. Such a talented guy.

Apparatly (see what I did there) he is now going to do some more Moderat stuff (with Modeselektor) - CAN't WAIT!!

Right now I'm listening to the Apollonia RA (Resident Advisor) Podcast mix (2012.11.19, #338). Hypnotic deep tech, loving it on my DT1350s

Most of the RA podcasts are awesome, and actually Apparat did one back in August if you can track it down.

I just came.

Mindscape has a new album out.

http://www.beatport.com/release/martian-chronicles/998300

Bangers from start to finish.

A Quick year in end of DRUM AND BASS, in my opinion.

Is it just me or has Drum and Bass been REDICULOUSLY good this year?

In no particular order:

Optiv & BTK - Dirty Tricks

SPY - What The Future Holds

Calyx & TeeBee - All or Nothing

Enei - Machines

Black Sun Empire - From The Shadows

Mindscape - Martian Chronicles

Audio - Soulmagnet

What else am I missing? All these albums are BANGERS though. Even the EPs being released are top notch examples of the genre. Ulterior Motive - Versus EP is QUINTESSENTIAL Drum And Bass IMO, and Culture Shock - Troglodyte is probably the most played track of the year. It mixes with absolutely everything. It's the Mr. Happy of the decade if you ask me Xp
