Best Headphones for £500?

So basically my birthday is coming up and I have about £500, possibly more, to spend on a new pair of cans. I'm looking for a nice upgrade to my Sennheiser HD 598s.

I listen to a wide range of music from instrumental rock to metal to blues, acoustic and more recently some psytrance and dubstep. Needless to say my Senns doesn't exactly provide the impactful bass needed for trance and dubstep. My current amp is a Corda Cantate.2.

I would prefer a can that sounds quite exciting while still retaining a fairly neutral sound, preferably with some nice punchy bass so my audio n00b friends (XB500 fans) will be able to appreciate it too. Any ideas?

Have you looked into either the Ultrasone Pro900 or Denon D2000/D5000?

They are good for bass within your budget, although I don't think they can be called neutral.

I've had a look at the Lawton Audio LA2000, have you had any experience with them? From what I can see they are modified Denons, and they get a fair amount of praise around here. How do they compare to the stock Denons? Anyone? Also, I quite like the look of the HiFiMAN HE-5LE, can anyone compare these to the Denon/Lawtons?

I only have the D7000, I've not heard the other models stock or modified.

From what I've read, the LA/MarkL mods tame the bass and cost a bomb. Neither of those things appeal to me!

Don't worry about your friends bro. HD650 + a budget amp for 500 pounds.

Grado soundsignature is superb for the above genres and it's sound more alive, energetic than Sennheiser. I will recommend to try GS1000i, RS1i, Ultrasone 2900 and Edition 8.

I'm already very very happy with my amp and since I already have a pair of Senns I've been looking for some nice headphones with a different, more energetic and fun sound. Any ideas?
