Wait, wait, wait... Let's back up a bit here.
First, this thread is fine in the lounge for the time being. When it starts to get some focus, the OP can start a new, more focused thread in the appropriate forum.

A question about equipment. I love west coast jazz but hate how it sounds through iTunes and my Mac family of products. So far I have gotten an iPod dock line out connector, a pair of grado 325is headphones, and a cheap cmoy amp in a breath mint canister (ya, I know). But stuff actually does sound a lot better. My question is...what's next. I have been looking at nuforce icon 2 to get my dac cleaned up...but what else. Or is my approach too sloppy? The long and short is I want to listen to 1950-60 west coast jazz with as much accuracy, range, and stage as possible.
Indulge my stupidity
Welcome to Head-Fi!
Few people have ears to hear, so I'm glad you do!
I've found the Mac to be a great platform to host my music collection, so you have a great platform.
There are many unanswered questions about your current situation that need to be known before we can intelligently proceed forward.
- How are your iTunes files encoded/ripped?
- At what resolution are they copied to your iPod?
- do you want to focus on improving sound from your iPod or Mac first?
- What, specifically do you hate about the sound you have now?
