Got a CD player for Christmas -- any good?

My grandpa got me a CD player for Christmas at Wal-Mart here:

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...%3A3983%3A4534

I have not opened it and have the reciept and can return/exchange it if neccessary. I also have a 50 buck gift certificate to Wal-Mart from my uncle. Is this CD player any good, or should I return it for something else? $100 budget for Wal-Mart, $50 anywhere else. I want to get a CD player, but if you have reccommendations for other things, lay them on me!

edit: I could upgrade to an MP3 CD player, which is what I want. This any good?:

edit: DARN! Wrong forum. Move to portables, please, mods.

I tried the Panasonic players in your post when my mom was looking for a PCDP. Hate to say it but the current generation of Panasonic PCDP just doesn't do it for me.

On the other hand, I did find a pretty good Aiwa EV501 at Walmart. It should still be available. Check out the link.

It's still available. Will get it probably then. It's an even exchange.

edit: BTW, my sister got this one at Wal-Mart (long time ago...no longer available).

I listened to it and it's simply AWFUL. Lifeless and FUZZY. I'm not kidding. It's got this horrible FUZZINESS to the sound. No sound quality whatsoever. Heck, the sound from my CD drive to my soundcard into my headphones sounds three times as good as that thing.

edit: Is the imp-50 better than that Aiwa? Maybe if I'm lucky I can beg my parents to get it for me through the internet. It can play MP3's, right?

I think for $45.00, the Aiwa is a lot better than the Panasonic. While it doesn't do MP3, it's a nice PCDP. I noticed that on Aiwa's US website, they have a new PCDP that do MP3s.

bump

Want to know if the imp-50 or imp-150 are any good.

Yes imp-150 is decent. Better than my 1997 Sony with defeatable anti-shock. Quite a bit better.

-edit-
Model # of the Sony is D-E305

Well, I ended up ordering that AIWA PCDP from Sam's Club for a mere $40. It seemed like a good deal after D-EJ915's review of it. Also, it has an in-line remote. Should be good enough for my purposes and will by no means replace my MZ-S1. I'll post about its sound after it arrives, probably Friday.
