Audio-gd NFB-12 vs Maverick Tubemagic D1

Hi, I'm looking to buy a new DAC that will mostly be feed using USB from a laptop. The setup doesn't need to be mobile so I'm considering testing out either the MFB12 or the Tubemagick D1. I'm not going to feed it with 96Khz audio over usb, only 44Khz so the limitations of the D1 shouldn't be a problem. I'm also not going to amp it further, just going to relay on the headphone amp inside the dac for playback.


Has anyone tested both out and give an impression on the difference to except between these two? 

 

Any other desktop DAC/AMP's that I should consider in this pricerange < $300?

I'm also quite curious about how the AudioGD NFB 11 (Saber chip) sounds compared to the D1.  I wonder if anyone's heard both here?

I haven't heared the NFB amp/dac, but I do own the D1 which I nowadays only use as a preamp for my speakers.

Imho there most likely are better amp/dac combos available as the D1, the D1 headphone out really isn't that special

I advise you to read all about it in the D1 faq and discussion threads

I'm sorry... I just realized I posted this in the wrong thread I think. This is the NFB12 which has the dual Wolfson WM8741, not the Saber ESS9018.
