Well for gaming and FL Studio usage I use a Steelseries Ikari, using the trackpoint for these things is possible, but not as quick as using a mouse.

I do catch myself using the trackpoint in FL Studio once in a while, since my hands automatically go for the trackpoint, but it's faster to use a mouse for this.

I use the trackpoint for recording slider and dial adjustments in FL Studio since it is very precise.

I'm old school - it's a mousy for me or nothing. One will be added to whatever laptop I get.

It takes a while to get used to a trackpoint, but once that has happened you don't wanna' bother using a mouse unless you absolutely need to.

Why move your hand off the keyboard just to move the cursor? you'll end up moving your hands back and forth all the time, it ruins your work flow.
