Hello,

Just out of curiosity, how do you identify that you have fake K240 MKII headphones?

Kind Regards.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

I have never heard any mention of fake K240 Mk II's.  What makes you believe they are fake?  I have a real pair and the original box if there are any comparisons you need.

(Fake Sony V6's/7506's, and Audio Technica M50's yes, but not these ones.)

On mine, the AKG on the top of the band is solid, not outlined like the older model.  And I know mine are a genuine pair.  Also, mine have a little sticker on the inside of the headband, Made in China.  No longer Austria for this model.  I got mine from an authorized dealer last fall or so, and they sound 90-95% like the older K240 Sextetts.

I just got some myself (studio version) made in china. But they look perfect and sound great so I am sure that they are real. Seems like the newer ones are all manufactured in china.

Stay away from E-bay. Buy from an authorized dealer. Low-end AKG cans are made in China that does not make them fake.

I'll try to get some pix up tonight, but really, I'm not sure what your interest is.  There just isn't any reported instances of fake K240 Mk II's out there.

My camera isn't the best at close ups.  That last one is of the inside of the headband.  There are 2 stickers there, on either side.  The one above is the black glossy "Made in China (P.R.C.)" sticker.  On the other side is a white cryptic model number or serial number or something.

My K240 MKII look just like yours, but on the left side of my pair says ''Made in Austria''.

Strange mines don't have any sticker on it saying ''made in China'', and showing serial number etc.

Thanks for the pics, very helpful.

I wonder if you got NOS = new old stock?  IOW, an older pair that were still made in Austria before they switched to China?

I might have to look around for a pair like that ...  wink.gif
