Cowon Devices

Thread Starter

Hi all, I'm thinking of purchasing a Cowon device as my next music player but I'm unsure of which one to get....they all look freakin beautiful compared to the iPod Touch (which is my current media player)!

I was hoping to have a Wi-Fi capable device since I would be able to check my e-mail/look up something really quick.

I noticed that the Cowon D3 uses Android OS, which is pretty neat I think. I personally haven't used Android OS all that much but it looks interesting.

Speaking of the user interface, how easy is it to adjust to the Cowon's UI? I found the iOS UI to be pretty easy to manage/navigate through which is the main reason why I like it.

Oh, I use Mac OS X and so most of my music is in Apple Lossless format, will Cowon devices be able to play this format? (If not I can use MAX or XLD to convert them to FLAC)

Thanks for your feedback!

Edit: Maybe I'll hold off on buying a Cowon device at the moment. I've read a few reviews for the D3 and the general consensus is that it could be better/speedier.

The D3 has been getting speedier with each firmware update.  Those have been coming at a 2-per-month pace so far. It still nags me as too expensive and less capable than the competition though.  Other android PMPs you could consider are the Archos 43 and Creative Touch 2. Both have better music database handling than the D3.  The Touch 2 is only 8gb (4.1gb useful) to start though, but it does have a microSD-HC slot.  The Archos is the best buy IMO.  It's only con is the resistive screen.  The D3 has a capacitive AMOLED multitouch screen which is beautiful.
