I'm looking at modding my headphones and then building a Millett Hybrid Max Headphone amp.

Now I need to decided on a soldering station ($50-$60), brands like Hakko, Weller and Aoyuo come up.

So what do you DIY people currently like right now?

Found this one for $41 (including shipping)

CSI Deluxe Station w/Analog Display (CSI-STATION1A)

But still deciding, want to hear for the more experianced DIYers.

I don't have a link for you but the Weller WLC100 I use has lasted me for more than 15 years without any problems. There are also 5 different sized tips available for this unit. Whatever you buy, make sure they sell a variety of tips for the unit. I believe Parts Express carries it in the US. It may be over your budget a bit but you get what you pay for. Hope this helps!

update! $57.48 in their current catalog.

I have that same soldering station from MPJA

No complaints what-so-ever

I use the Aoyue 936 which looks like the same exact station as the "CSI Deluxe" station linked above, and its really worked well for me.  I've done a ton of soldering with it already, and its still running strong.  No need to spend anymore in my opinion.

What is the best kind of solder to use when doing modds on Headphones?

I like cardas quad eutectic solder.  It's not the cheapest stuff by any means, but it flows great and you don't have to hit it was a ton of heat.  You can pick it up on Ebay in smaller amounts for like $10.

Kester 44 here. 63/37 eutectic mix. 0.020 diameter.

+1 on the recommendations for the two solders above. The Cardas is up to $80 or so for a pound, worth it imho but if you're just starting out, the Kester 63/37 is more than ample and very easy to work with.
