First news of the Teclast T59 HiFi Player - Page 7

@lee730 - I can't speak Chinese lol and while I'm sure Teclast can read English they probably spend their lunch breaks checking out ERJI.NET

on 24/192... found this at headfonia, talking about the C4:

"One thing that Colorfly advertises heavily is the fact that it would be the first player with 24/192 capability. So, I went to test its playback capability with 24/96 files, both in WAV and FLAC format. Surprisingly, the Colorfly was not able to play those files. Short communications between me and my buddy Sem reveals that with all three Colorfly players that’s been tested among us, none of them was able to play 24 bit files. I don’t know if this is a mistake by Colorfly, but it seems that their 24/192 capability is not native 24/192 capability, but rather, the ability to take 16/44.1 files and upsample it to 24/192 through the CS8422 chip."

so basically, the HM-60X downsamples 24/96, and the Colorfly upsamples 16/44.

Wow, is it really so hard for a player to have native 24/96~192?

I was talking about the screen clearly in my posts.  The T59 is designed as a video player.  It has a widescreen ratio designed to be viewed horizontally, look at the button orientation.

It doesn't apply here, there's no mobile phone or smartphone that can rival the T51 sound quality,

Oh ok sorry about the misunderstanding.

Back to listening I go.

I may be on my own here, but I think it looks interesting. I never did hear the T51.

As I am waiting for my T51 to arrive, any advice

1-on what is the best portable amp and headphone/IEM to get for it, and

2-do you advise me to get the fostex hp-p1,

3-and does it deserves the premium price,

In  your opinion what is the best closed headphone you owned or think is? Audio Technica ATH-A2000X?????

Have you ever tried to listen music with your device turned horizontally? Could be a totally new experience. 1080bit / 1920kHz.

OK now seriously, IMO Teclast wants to provide us three kind of devices. The X19HD is the smallest (most portable device) of those three. (competes with Cube C30/60 and those Roccoo DAPs)

The X29 should be the T51 we always wanted to have. (very good SQ, smaller, no touchscreen, just for Audio).

The T59 is the device the should do everything. Provides you with excellent audio and good video. Call me crazy, but what if Teclast gives us a DAP that can play DVDA?!? I like the idea of using it horizontally. The volume knob like that indicates a bigger potentiometer. On the other hand, such a big screen just eats current without adding any real benefit to listening music.

EDIT: In Teclast language T (Txx) means touch. So it will have a touchscreen, although I believe a resistive one this time.

1) I've heard it with both the Arrow amp and JustAudio uHA-120, both were very good. I'm not sure about IEMs because it's so subjective.

2) no because the Fostex is for Apple iDevices only (iPod, iPhone, iPad). If you're buying a T51 the HP-P1 isn't compatible as a digital transport DAC. I think you could use the amp section of it with the T51 but that would be a huge waste of money.

3) as above

Not to mention why would you buy this player if you are trying to bypass the dual wolfson DACs inside of the player. I used a UHA4 amp when I had the T51 and it helped to smooth out the sound somewhat. Using the Line Out on the T51 would yield you more clarity and better dynamics though.

T51 with ttvj slim (can get it for a bargain ) +Sen 598, what do you think?

The Iphone 4 rivals the T51, in my experience. It has the same great soundstage/imaging (if not a tad better) and doesn't fall that far behind dynamics and detail. The T51 is still a tad better in SQ, but it's so close the T51's channel imbalance makes me lean toward the iphone.

The T51 is a good bang-for-the-buck though, but the thing isn't as reliable and falls apart for good, many times.

The TTVJ slim is a nice amp. Its a fun warm amp and that could do well with the T51 since its on the brighter side. I don't see why not.

I guess I have a diff opinion on this. My iphone 4 is nice but it could never compare to the T51 sound quality wise. Its really not a fair comparison because the DAC in the iphone is inferior to the Dual Wolfson chips. Even an imod still doesn't compare to a T51 sound quality wise but its closer. I'd still prefer the T51 through the head phone out to my iphone 4 amped. Guess just different opinions. The iphone is pretty detailed and dynamic but when I compared it to the T51 is sounded kinda empty. Same with the Sansa fuze amped compared to the T51.

Different perceptions, I guess so. But the DAC in the IP4 is a custom Cirrus Logic Apple branded DAC that competes to the Wolfsons well IMO. The Ipad 2 and the IP4 are the only ones that have this DAC, from what I know. They sound better than the previous Ipods IME, I hope the 4GS has the same one.

I've heard some saying the ipod touch 4g sounds better than the phone. Not sure if there's any difference but I'd rather have the phone for its versatility and cheaper price tag over the ipod touch. I actually won an ipod touch 4g 8GB from a stacker machine and sold it here to battlebrat. I paid about $180 for my phone refurb from at&t, not bad for a 32GB version. Speaking of the devil, did you know Mike Jobs died today?
