HELP with decision on new IEMs

Hi folks,

Point me in the right direction for a new set of IEMs. I have the Monster Miles Davis Tributes and Pro Coppers, and really like the sound signautre on both of these IEMs (even though I almost sold them for some reason???).

So, with the Monster IEMs in mind, what should I be looking at next for $500 and under - prefer universal IEMs.

Also, I have the MAudio IE40 (UE SuperFi) and feel that I like the Monster sound (dynamic driver) better than the BAs. I do like the cable quality on the IE40 though.

Any thoughts on Earsonics SM3? Are they BA or DD?

Thanks in advance.

What are you looking for that the others don't offer? Are you dissatisfied in any way with them? Are you trying to find something that fills in the holes they have?

I am satisfied with both the Coppers and the MDTs. Guess I'm looking for something that sounds as good or better. I'd like the build quality to be on par with the Monsters as well.

Take a look through the reviews of the W4. I don't like that they don't have a detachable cable, but they are a very impressive earphone. Earphone Solutions has some good reviews, and there is the thread, too, of course. Though it has gotten long.

I think that the W4 will have a different sound signature than the Monster line (which I've never heard but read a lot about) but the more I listen to them, and hear people compare them who have entry level customs, it is as close to customs as a universal will get. I've never noticed reverberation or echo before but these earphones have them. They are really well balanced across the frequency range, doing treble, mids and bass all really well. The only thing I don't like about them is how balanced they are...sometimes you want something with lusher mids (like the SE535) or more analytical (like the ER4P) but they are the single best earphone I've heard.

They're super comfy too.

(Please take these comments with a grain of salt; I am looking to sell mine, but I'm also considering keeping them the more time I have with them.)
