Audition problem

Hi there.

Well, last night I had an "accident". I use some foam ear plugs to sleep (because of a noisy environment), and at some point of the night I woke up and one of the plugs was very deeply inserted into my ear, I don't know how that happened. I had to use tweezers in order to pull it out. My ear hurted a bit, but it was still dark and I was still sleepy so I fell asleep again.

Now, I woke up in the morning and I still have this ear-ache, and my ear feel really strange. What is way WORSE, I just made a quick test and I can barely hear to 14 kHz with the affected ear!!!! What do you recommend me to do? Should I go to the doctor? Is this temporary? I'm a musician and this would be terrible if is not temporary :(

Thanks in advance for your advices...

Fernito.......The foam ear plug being pressed into your ear canal may have push some ear wax back down into your ear canal, and is probably blocking it.  You can do two things.  Go see an ear, nose, and throat doctor for a good ear cleaning, or try using some ear drops and an irrigation bulb to flush out your ear(s).  The drops and irrigation bulb are available at any drug store.

Thanks a lot jdandy, I'll follow your advices. I'll try cleaning my ear first, as otorhinolaryngologists are pretty expensive over here. Thanks!!!

Fernito.......Hope the ear drops work for you.  My ears get wax build up, so I use the glycerin drops about 4 times a year.  You have to let the drops soak in for 10 to 15 minutes, then flush the ear several times with luke warm water from the squeeze bulb.  The ear wax will come out as the water flows from your ear.
