DIY K500 pads

Well I decided I'm going to try and DIY some pads, I found something to make the baffle out of, A thin CD case, its perfect, I will simply measure the other baffle and cut/sand it down to shape.

QUESTIONS

-How to cut the bayonet mounting holes?

-What to use as the stuffing?

-How full?

-Material to cover the pads?*i have a thin red material that pretty sturdy despite being thin*

Anyone have experience making pads care to left a hand? maybe a better solution to a baffle? Leather*though my stitching is a bit rusty*

This is just a small project due to the fact that I don't want to shell out $40 a pad for K601 pads and apparently those are the ones that can boost the bass slightly on the k500's.

I'd recommend finding some nice fabric. Go to Goodwill and find a retro shirt with a velour-ish material, or micro fiber. Find a thin suede jacket with unweathered areas you can scrap from. Definitely try to find something that semi-seals to your head. You could take pre-cut materials to a seamstress if you're worried about your sewing, but this could always be a teachable moment/learning experience for you... Practice on crap material before making the final pair. For stuffing, find an old pillow, or just buy a bag of cotton. You got a furry dog? Take it to the groomers, brush it when you get home and collect the clean fur for a few months. Wash with soap if you're worried about smell. Mounting holes? Do they have to be square? Is the CD case the correct thickness? Could you just drill a hole with a smallish bit? A dremel could sand down the plastic where you need and make the mounting holes if one had the proper bits and a dremel. You could attach the pad to the baffle portion with double sided tape, elmers glue, whatever you've got. Good luck, man.
