Southeast PA (Philly, Lehigh Valley, So. Jersey) Mini-Meet May 7th - Page 2

Just got back from Johnston airport in Western PA. I was in the airport for 10 hours, and with one gate, one restaurant (even though it was amazing delicious), one car to rent, and a pair of Orthodynamics in my carry-on got more attention than an underware bomb (imagine what a pair if Orthos look like in the radar), I need a couple of weeks before I want to spend some time in rural PA, again.

Real spring can't get here soon enough.

philly may not be rural (though some of the sports fans act like they were raised in a barn! tongue.gif ), but Johnston, i'd bet, is!

yup, phiily fans are legendary - even worse than boston fans (who'd have thought that possible!) tongue.gif

new yawkers may be brash, but they're not generally violent.

While perhaps founded in truth in the past, that myth is largely perpetuated by the media and whispers down the lane.  I've been to at least 1 hundred Philly sports events in the last 3 years...most of them with my pre-teen son...and have never experienced any violence personally.  I have seen drunks and those bent on profanity escorted out by security, but that's the extent of it. That's certainly no more than I've witnessed at Mets and/or Giants games in NY/NJ.

It's an easy thing to perpetuate a stereotype (and an easy/popular story to write), it's another thing altogether to experience it for yourself and let go of misperceptions.

But anyway...back to the meet-up.  Looking forward to meeting you all.

Philly's infrastructure is in need of serious repair. But it still doesn't hold a candle to 9/10's of Brooklyn.
